Untitled (Open Cube)

Sculpture, Selected projects, 2008

Made using medieval timber framing techniques, this enlarged and unfinished Sol LeWitt ‘Incomplete Open Cube’ establishes a deliberate contradiction between a Minimalist and wood-folk aesthetic.

The sculpture was developed as part of a RMJM art commissioned project in Ruchill park in 2007 and was accompanied by a programme of animation, screen printing and tapestry workshops within four local schools. Community artworks and events included a huge flag which was raised up the parks flag pole, fruit tree planting, t-shirt printing and an animated film by the children with score by composer Scott Tynholme.
