All our Fingers in the Pie

Sculpture, Selected projects, 2018

‘All our Fingers in the Pie’ is an invite for visitors to touch, remould and engage in a dialectic sculptural discourse. This pavilion’esque installation emerges from the simple joys of rhinotillexis, the act of picking your nose, creating a series of pickable, malleable and reconstructible sculptures. Reminiscent of abstract bronze monuments, these huge copper-leafed lumps of modelling clay sit as ‘turds in the plaza’ before they slip into a messy playful entropy.

Contained inside these ever-malleable weights are many small abstract sculptures which, once excavated become the tools, bones, armatures and building blocks of future artworks.

In the of process of creation and recreation, objects will rise and will fall; by inviting children, carers and gallery staff to play in this way, the artist hopes to invite a durational, hands-on engagement with notions of iconoclasm, material hierarchy and authorship.

‘All our Fingers in the Pie’ was commissioned for The Children’s Exhibition at the Tramway, Glasgow.
